Captain Neil was missing last week and our 440 team lost their match to Atticus 1, 2.5-1.5.

The Third and Fifth teams were in action on Wednesday but both went down to defeat. Aigburth 3 hosted Widnes 2 but lost out by a half point. Boards 1 to 5 were drawn but a double edged position on board 6 went the wrong way for us.

The 1st Team locked horns with a full strength Atticus 2 team on Monday and ended up with a share of the spoils in a hard fought 4-4 draw. Dave Eisen had put us ahead trapping his opponents Queen. FOURTH TEAM HELD AT HOME

Formby 3 were the visitors last week in what proved a highly contested match. Steve Korb had an excellent win, sacrificing two pieces for a devastating attack (Look out for Game Of The Month soon!). Alan forced a material gain and wrapped up a nice endgame and John Mc also won although I didn't see...
600 TEAM BEATEN AT HOME

A bad start for the defending Champions as they went down 3.5-0.5 to Waterloo. Rob had a close game on top board which could have gone either way but otherwise the team was well beaten.
THIRD TEAM BEATEN IN OPENER

The 3rd Teams campaign has started with a defeat to Atticus 4. Captain Filip won his game but defeats for Tony and Bill meant Atticus sneaked it 3.5-2.5.
1ST TEAM EASE THROUGH IN JOHN RIPLEY

The 1st Team are into the next round of the John Ripley after a 5-1 victory on the night against Liverpool. The visitors started with a 1.5 point handicap but it was quickly overturned after wins for Roger, Mike, Gerry and Steve with Brendan and Rob drawing.
